Week15 - Introducing Lori Schmidt
I was born in Zimbabwe (a small country in southern Africa) and I have
loved horses for as long as I can remember.
I started riding at the age
of 9 but it was only four years ago that I received my first horse from
my husband. We breed paint horses and have two stallions and thirteen
mares at the moment.
I took up photography about 15 years ago in South Africa and it was a natural progression to photograph my passion, the horse. I
started out using it as a way to finance my riding lessons covering
small schooling shows and shooting personal portraits for the members
of the stable that I attended and it grew from there to include farm
visits and larger shows.
In 1998 I moved to London, England and then, after meeting my husband
moved to Indiana in 2001. I photograph a few smaller western paint,
palomino, welsh and quarter horse shows in our local area every year.
My first love is our young horses which I spend hours photographing
each year when they are born. I can sit out in the field all day
watching them and enjoying their antics and trying to capture them on
camera.
I shoot primarily for stock and my website is a work in progress. It is
currently being updated to reflect my work. If you're looking for
foal imagery please contact me by visiting my website at http://www.prophotobylori.com or search for Lori Schmidt in the IHPA
Imagebank.
