I came to horse photography quite by accident, led by well meaning friends. And I found a world of wonder. In 1996 while pursuing a wedding and portrait photography business, I was approached to shoot the Iowa State Fair Society Horse Show. "Sure" I said, and to myself, "How hard can this be?" Well, even amidst the August heat and dust, I was hooked. Documenting not only the grace and power of the horses, but also the relationships between riders and their horses became my goal.

What does your future look like?  Where are you going with your work?

I am now creating relationships with my fellow photographers in the IHPA. These mentoring collaborations have expanded my vision and the quality of my work. Everyone works together to witness and celebrate both individual and collective success. I am now growing the advertising, editorial and stock aspects of my business and appreciate the support I receive from our members. PS. I am no longer available for weddings unless you get married on horseback!
