Starting this week, we allow our members to do a little self promotion
and tell visitors about themselves in their own words. Check back often
(every week) and see who's going to be up next! Each week a new IHPA
Photographer will make it to the front page and then it'll be archived
(and can be accessed via the News[Recent] link above)..
Week1 - Introducing - Deb Morrison
What imagery do you enjoy capturing?
My favorite images are the ones that play with the idea of horse,
rather than a specific equine. Horses are strong, powerful, swift,
generous, kind, trusting, timid, obedient (occasionally), mischievous
(often). When I can, I want to photograph them at play, unhaltered and
free to dance as wildly and passionately as they please. It's chancy,
unpredictable, and thrilling, and sometimes it opens up magic that
flashes from their exuberance into the lens of my camera and onto the
film plane. I just try to be ready if they invite me to see their brand
of magic.
Do you enjoy travelling? Where do you find your subjects?
I love traveling to shoot pictures, it opens your eyes and freshens
your instincts. This summer, I plan to join some other photographers
for shoots and road trips in Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico and Texas (go
IHPA!), with a special photo junket down to Louisiana as autumn hits
the Midwest. Once winter officially shuts down the north half of the
country, I'll set aside my cameras and lenses, and hunker down again in
my office, catch up on the business end of art, and comb through my
slides and negatives, searching for those little puffs of sympathetic
magic.
